Theme : True View In short... : What lens are we viewing the World Through? This summer our desire is to encourage and equip campers to recognize that as followers of Jesus, our lens is God's Word, the Bible.
Memory Verses 2 Timothy 3:16-17 New Living Translation (NLT) : "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work."
Throughout the course of a week of camp we will have opportunities to unpack this passage. The prayer is that each of us will understand that having and living a Biblical World-view is essential. The Bible is the means by which God has communicated clearly what is true and right. Within this infallible word of God, the scriptures help to prepare and equip us for all that God has in store for us. It is essential that as followers of Jesus we take the time to read God's Word, seek to understand it, trust that it is true and live it out in our daily lives. With scripture as our guide we can have a True View of the world and understand how we are to live, love our neighbor, and serve.
This summer I pray that each of us, through the power of the Holy Spirit will grow in these ways 1. That we might Know the Author. Since Scripture is God breathed it is important to understand who God is; his character, why He is trustworthy and how the Bible has stood the test of time. 2. That we might Trust the Bible. Knowing the author allows us to trust what the Bible says, and come to the place that we recognize that is has authority in our lives. This means we want to read and study the Bible. In doing so we also humbly and allow it to speak into our lives, rather than our lives or culture speaking into it. As we trust God's word we recognizing that the Bible is true, trustworthy and and practical for our every day. Within might Word speaks of God creating, the fall of mankind, the need for a savior, the coming of Jesus and his finished work on the cross and His resurrection. A testimony of a mighty victory!
3. That we might Live as the Bible leads. Not only are we to read, know and trust God’s Word, the Bible, we are called to live it out, to put it into action. The Bible impacts how we view all things and ultimately interact and live as followers of Christ in this world for the Glory of God and the advancement of the Kingdom of God.
